When our time is up, When our lives are done, When we say we've had our fun Will we make our mark this time Will we always say we tried
Ironic much? Melody climbed the spiral staircase to the school roof with Ian Watkins' voice pounding in her ears. The roof was one of her favourite places in the school. Not many people went up there, so it was generally quite quiet, making it the perfect place to go when you needed to get away from something. Only, today, Melody was trying to get away from everything . She wasn't an idiot. Melody knew half the school though she had something to do with Angel's death. But in all honesty she had played no part in it at all. Why would she want to kill her best mate? But that ddin't stop her from feeling guilty though. The last time she had spoken to Angel they had had a blistering argument, and knowing that she would never get to appologise hurt Melody beyond belief. Standing on the rooftops everybody scream your heart out. Standing on the rooftops everybody scream your heart out. Standing on the rooftops everybody scream your heart out This is all we got now everybody scream your heart out. Angel had died believing that she hated her. Meldoy didn't really believe the tales that Angel had killed herself. But that didn't stops the dreams that came at night. Or the little voice in her head telling her that it was all her fault - she had made Angel commit suicide. She knew that the only way to free her mind would be to find out what really happened that day. All the love I’ve met I have no regrets If it all ends now I’m set
Will we make a mark this time? Will we always say we’ve tried
She pushed open the cold steel door and steped out onto the roof tops. A chilling gust of wind came at her suddenly, and Meldoy pulled her jacket around her for warmth. Bracing the harsh weather, she walked to the edge of the roof, from where she had a panoramic view of the city. Cars streamed past below her, and in the distance sunlight glimered and gleamed off of office block windows. She had come up here to think; so why had her mind suddenly gone blank? Sha had wanted to get away; so why did she feel so lonley? Standing on the rooftops everybody scream your heart out. Standing on the rooftops everybody scream your heart out. Standing on the rooftops everybody scream your heart out This is all we got now everybody scream your heart out.

Kali walked up the metal steps she had thought that the roof would be the perfect place to relax.
She turned her head sharply thinking she had heard a noise. Kali hated metal steps, they freaked her out. They always had done ever since that night on the steps with Jo.............. "Get a grip Kali, that was ages ago its not like he knows your here," she said out alound but to herself.
Kali knew that Jo had meant to do what he had done that night. But she was the only one not even her mum and dad believed her....only Ty believed her. She sighed, she wanted to talk to her brother to know somebody cared but he had gone to the army, thats why she had come here.
The wind blew in her face as she opened up the door to the roof top. She shivered. Seeing the other girl on the rooftop she stopped in her tracks not knowing whether to head back down the steps or to ignore her fear and say hello to the other girl.

As the song ended Melody was plunged into a brief and sudden silence. She closed her eyes gently, feeling the whip of the wind on her face as it tousled her long brown hair.
During that brief moment, in the few seconds pause before the next track began, Melody heard a noise behind her, as the door to the roof was opened; someone else had just come up onto the roof. She turned round slowly, wondering if it was anyone she knew. It wasn't. Or at least, she didn't think it was. The girl who had joined her looked about the same age, so she must have been in Melody's year, but Melody didn't remember seeing her before, so she must be new.
"Hi," she smiled at the new arrival. "Careful on those stairs; someone fell down and broke their leg last year. The teachers almost banned us from coming up here after it happened, but they couldn't be bothered to fill out all the paper work."

"Hi,um nice to meet you.......my name is Kali," Kali smiled feeling relived, she slowly walked a couple of steps forward and turn to shut the door. Thoughts ran threw her head but at the same time her mind blank and she couldn't think of anything to say.
She walked a few steps nearer to the girl. "So what is your name?" she asked
Then she turned to look at the view and was shocked at how pretty it was. She felt relaxed and took some chewing gum out of her pocket. "Would you like a piece?" she asked before popping one into her mouth.

Melody smiled as the girl walked over; secretly glad of the company, even though she didn't know the other student. "Kali, huh? Well hi Kali, I'm Melody, Melody Milton. I don't think I've seen you here before. Are you new, or am I just loosing my memory?"
The music had started up in her ear again, so Melody gently tugged out the ear phone, not wanting to seem unsociable. She watched as Kali took the chewing gum out of her pocket.
"Would you like a piece?"
"Yeah thanks... if your sure you don't mind. I haven't had chewing gum in ages." She took a piece gratefully and began to chew on it slowly.

"Here you go," she said handing Melody a piece of gum,
"Yea i am new here, my other school's didn't work out," she said grimly, then thought to herself, more like they were full to the brim with loonies.
She looked at the view and suddenly all her thoughts faded and with them her worries. She seemed to just stand there motionless for a while.
Then she snapped back to to the real world.

Melody noticed that she had temporarily lost Kali to the view: it was pretty amazing from up here. You could see the whole city stretched out before you, the good parts and the bad. It made a beautiful photo; Melody should know, she had one taped on the wall beside her desk back home. A group of five teens were stood in front of the scene, their laughter captured for eternity with the just the closing of a shutter...
Melody snapped out of her daydream and shook her head. She shouldn't think about that: it would only make her feel worse.
"So... how do you like the school so far?" she said, trying to fill the slight silence that had fallen over them.
